Mike created a new plugin that adds a multi-instance Pods widget for use in sidebars. It appears it functions mostly like the existing Pods shortcode (using fields to change each of those values) – but is there anything else this Widget could do beyond what the shortcode does? The current plan is to snag that widget he created, clean it up, ensure it does everything the shortcode does (output runs shortcode itself), and include in core.

Just checking, maybe some of you have some more ideas on what we could do with a widget beyond the existing shortcode functionality. And if there is, perhaps we can extend the shortcode to do the same.
