Join the Pods Docs Team

I Want You, To Join The Pods Docs TeamSince I began working as the community manager for Pods last August I’ve been focused on improving the documentation and other educational materials available for Pods. We’ve created a new tutorials section full of tutorials I wrote as well as those I curated from the community. I’ve also added and expanded doc pages and created a screencast series on how to use Pods. I’m proud of the progress we have made so far, but I am only one person, working half time, and we are of limited resources here. For this reason we are recruiting a team of volunteers from our user community who would like to contribute to our tutorials and documentation.

Initial Projects

#PodsDocThursday

Starting soon, every week we will choose a Pods feature that could use better documentation and on a given day of the week, for know we are going with Thursday, and publish updated documentation, new tutorials and other resources on that topic. That way each week, as a group we can tackle a hole in the Pods documentation.

Inline Documentation For Filters And Hooks

Pods has literally hundreds of filters and hooks, which is awesome, but very few of them have any documentation. The first step in improving this will be a coordinated effort to add inline documentation for each hook and filter. We are especially seeking anyone veterans of the WordPress inline docs team for this effort. Hopefully as we do inline documentation we can create tutorials and code examples about using them to be published as part of #podsdocthursday.

First Meeting

Anyone who is interested in being involved is invited to join us at the first meeting of Pods Doc Team. The meeting will be held in our irc chat room #pods on irc.freenode.net, which you can access through your browser via https://support.pods.io/chat/ on Friday January, 24th at 11am Eastern / 15oo UTC.
