We had our second meeting of the Pods Doc Team last week. A brief wrap-up is below and the full transcript is also available.
Pods Project Update
We started the meeting with an update on Pods from our lead developer Scott K. Clark. Scott talked about Pods 2.3.19, which includes new filters, and performance improvements and will be available in the next couple of weeks. Pods 2.3.19 will also provide compatibility for a new plugin Pods Alternative Cache, that can dramatically reduce page load times for large sites.
Pods Doc Team Progress And Moving Forward
In the week since our first meeting, we’ve had our first tutorial link post created by a team member. We also have a few tutorials being planned via our Trello board.
We decided that our first topic for #PodsDocThursday will be “Creating User, Employee and Organization Directories” and that we will be looking to make this happen within 1-3 weeks. Part of the project will be new tutorials, but also ensuring that each function used in this tutorial has a documentation page. If not we will be creating a new one, and if one does exist we will be adding new example code and helpful links.
This week I will also be rearranging the Trello board a bit so we can easily list all functions, actions and filters that need to be documented or have their documentation updated
Ways To Contribute
Pods Doc Team is about more than writing new tutorials. Want to contribute to inline documentation for filters and actions? We need your help. We have a page on how to contribute. Want to help improve the existing documentation with better code examples? Start writing that code, because how to contribute it is on the agenda for the next meeting.
Have other ideas about how to help. We want to hear them the next meeting will be held in #pods at 11AM eastern/ 1500 UTC on Friday February 7 2014.
