Pods Beaver Themer Add-on, and a Special Thank You

Pods Beaver Themer Addon

If you’ve been hanging out in our Slack Chat over the last few months, Beaver Builder and Beaver Themer have been a major source of discussion, almost more than the new 2.7 Flexible Relationships Pods Beta. Believe it or not, the two go hand in hand. With all the buzz around Flexible Relationships, we’ve received an inflow of the Beaver Builder community, mostly all centered around integration with Pods with Beaver Themer, which is their plugin to allow fairly easy ‘builder’ creation of ‘theme parts’, like Single Detail & Archives for Custom Post Types and Taxonomies. Finally, Builders can build theme pages the right way. A lot of this buzz and communication also centers around one of our own Community Developers (and Community Support) Bernhard Gronau who is the brain-child behind the new Pods Beaver Themer Add-on.

Bernhard has been working pretty much non-stop on the new Pods Add-on since the Beaver Themer was first released in Alpha back in March or April of this year. The new integration with Pods allows you to easily select Pods Fields through the Beaver Themer’s Field Connectors, including automatically recognizing attached images through file/image/media upload fields to be displayed as a gallery or using the Post Modules to display Related Custom Post through our Relationship Fields. This just barely grazes the surface of the functionality currently inside the new Pods Beaver Themer Add-on and there is much more planned as Bernhard continues work on its development.

In addition to the work Bernhard has put in, our lead developer Scott Kingsley Clark has also been doing agency-level code reviews on all releases to ensure code quality is the highest it can be. It’s a testament to Bernhard’s skill and grasp on Beaver Themer that there are rarely any changes needed.

We are working to build up some official documentation as the project evolves. For now, the best places for help on this project will be to join our dedicated #beaver-themer channel in our Slack Chat.

Bernhard has also been a one-man cheering squad for the Pods Framework lately, bringing multiple people who’ve never heard of the project and turning them into Pods Evangelists (and Pods Friends!). This incredible video he did with Paul Lacey, who was a major ACF user, shows how he converted one of his ACF sites into being built on Pods and using Beaver Themer:

Paul became a Friend of Pods shortly after they did this video together. That’s the way to convert them ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bernhard was also recently featured on the WP Builds PodsCast, Discussing Why Pods and Beaver Themer are Jolly Good Together:

We’re just sending out an incredibly big thank you to Bernhard for continuing the amazing work and for bringing so many enthusiastic additional users over to the Pods Framework. You’re testament to the fact that contributing to Pods comes in all forms (not just monetary) and whether you’re helping out in Community Support on Slack or providing code for the Beaver Themer Add-on, it all helps the project. Thanks for helping Pods Grow ๐Ÿ˜‰
